ABOUT PHILO: Philo makes TV social (again) by letting you connect with your friends and watch, chat, score points, and win awards and credits together.
You can browse around television shows and see what your friends are watching and saying, what’s popular, what’s on that you may like based on what you’ve watched, or scroll through a guide to see what else is on. Once you find something you like…. Tune-in!
COMMENT ABOUT SHOWS : Once you’ve checked into a show, you can follow the conversation about the show and participate by contributing your own comments. Your comments will be posted to your favorite social networks (if you like) with links so that your friends can see what you’re watching and join you so you can watch together.
For 2011 NBA All Star Weekend Shaquille O’Neal, TNT and the NBA have teamed up with social television platform, Philo (think Foursquare for TV) for a virtual viewing party of the NBA’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest airing live on TNT on Saturday, February 19th at 8PM ET. TNT & Philo will reward viewers and fans for checking-in and interacting with Shaq and other fans during the live televised event on Philo or on Philo’s widget housed on NBA.com.
From the sidelines at STAPLES Center, Shaq will invite his over 3.5 million Twitterfollowers to tune in, where he will give a live play-by-play and chat live with fans of the NBA’s annual All-Star event. Fans who “check-in” to the show on Philo via its web, iPhone, iPad or Android applications will also be able to unlock virtual awards, and be entered to win coveted prizes, such as one of Shaq’s size 23 sneakers.
“Millions of people already engage with Shaq in the social media space every day,” said David Levy, CEO of Philo. “We’re thrilled to provide a way for one of basketball’s biggest legends to interact with fans during one of the NBA’s most anticipated television events.” Join Philo.com Here
