This past weekend the news broke that Nike would sign NBA superstar Kevin Durant to one of the most lucrative shoe deals every. The deal is said to be worth anywhere from $265 million to $300 million over a period of 10 years. That’s a lot of money, but considering the sells of Durant’s Nike apparel and the expectation of his star to continue to rise, KD could very well be worth it. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Oklahoma City Thunder star’s shoes are a top seller for Nike, second only to four-time MVP LeBron James’s own line of footwear.
The question I pose is if KD is banking $265 – $300 mill on his shoe deal, what is LeBron going to get when it’s time on him to re up on his Nike contract?
I can’t imagine what those numbers are going to look like!
